Dentistry is currently experiencing significant changes in the management and delivery of treatment due to the extensive introduction and expansion of digital capabilities. This digitally enhanced process would allow for improved efficiencies in decision support for diagnosis, treatment, enhanced workflows, and ultimately more timely treatment outcomes. 
As the guest editor for the JADA+ series on artificial and augmented intelligence applications in dentistry, it is my pleasure to welcome you to this online resource. In this ongoing series, the ambition of AI and computer visualization in dentistry will be introduced, and current applications of models in the management of both clinical treatment and dental practice will be presented in various formats, including original papers, webinars, slide shows, audio interviews, and links to relevant literature to help inform you as this technology emerges, both in current practice as well as future developments.
The adoption and implementation of artificial and augmented intelligence within the dental profession is poised to be a transformative technology in dental care delivery. That said, it will not be without the perspectives and challenges that come with innovation and will require our focused attention as applications for use continue to evolve. It is our intention to help you gain insight and remain current by providing new content periodically throughout the year. Our pipeline includes information regarding the deployment of AI technology over multiple practice locations, the improvement of clinical workflows, the use of AI in the submission and adjudication of insurance claims, uses for business applications to advance your practice goals, and identification of patient needs at scale across you practice, among others.
